what’s up record breakers Chris record here another day another vlog I’m excited because we’re getting ready to start a seven-day Shopify series where I’m gonna teach you how to make money from home online as long as you have an internet connection you guys I remember last time we did this we did a five-day Shopify series the reviews were amazing everybody said more you want more so what I’m going to do is this I’m gonna put links in the description of this video if you want to go back and watch some of those beginner videos on Shopify and I’m gonna continue it with another seven-day series you guys this is completely free this is content you would normally pay for in a course and it’s completely free for you right here on this channel so if you guys want to make sure you do not miss any of these seven days then smash the subscribe button smash that post notification bell turn on all notifications and become a record breaker every single day we blog for free right here on this channel before I dive into today’s training I want to tell you why we’re teaching Shopify Shopify is a platform that allows you to have your own e-commerce store online now most of you probably don’t have a store because you think you don’t have any products to sell well here’s the kicker with Shopify all you have to do is you can put the pictures of the products that you want to sell on the site as soon as a customer buys it you can then turn around and you can place the order from a wholesaler the wholesaler will ship directly to the customer this is called drop shipping you don’t have to have any inventory you can have an empty house all you have to do is find products from the wholesaler put the pictures on your website on your store and then advertise generate traffic generate sales so this is a very simple process I currently run one of the largest communities of Shopify sellers in the world like over 40,000 members it’s called the EECOM challenge where what I did was I did 90 days of free training every single day to try to help you absolutely free in the description there’s a link if you guys want to join that group literally access to more training then you get your hands on best of all it’s all free what are gonna be your costs and running your own business well Shopify is gonna have a monthly fee you’re probably gonna spend between $40 a month to $80 a month with Shopify but it’s all hosted it runs everything for you then on top of that you’re gonna have some advertising fees so even though you have an amazing website even though you have an amazing store with tons of products in it you still need to generate traffic to that store so you’re gonna place ads on Facebook and Instagram and anywhere else you want these ads are generally around $5 a day but a lot of them don’t work so let’s be realistic you’re probably looking at about a hundred to two hundred dollars a month in advertising altogether you should be able to run your own business from home on a budget of a couple hundred dollars a month and listen that money’s going directly to Shopify or going directly to Facebook Ads it’s not going to me I’m here to train you I’m here to inspire you and I’m here to show you it’s possible we have thousands of students that are making money after going through the free training so what I want to do is I want to spend seven days with you the next seven days teaching you for free to show you what you can do if you take action on this okay and every single day I’ll put links in the description to make sure you have all the resources you need and if you have questions ask them in the comments below now with that being said I want to kick off day one with an interview that I did with one of my students Lawrence Aponte Lawrence used to follow me on periscope I don’t know if you guys remember periscope or not but Lawrence used to follow me on periscope and every single day I would do live streams and I would talk about ways to make money online so he started experimenting with some of the ideas I was sharing and he started making money then he joined one of my masterminds I think he invested like either five thousand or ten thousand dollars to join one of my high-end masterminds and at that mastermind he showed me what he was doing he was using a strategy called free plus shipping he was essentially giving products away for free the buyer would just pay for shipping and handling and then he experimented with another product which was selling the same product for retail maybe selling it for twenty dollars but then offering free shipping through that process both were working and we discovered those are the two best ways to sell products either free plus shipping where you give the product away the customer just pays a small fee for shipping and handling but you make your money on the shipping and handling fee or you sell the product and give away free shipping customers a little bit more use to that process both ways work you guys in today’s interview I want to break down both strategies in detail I want to break down what drop shipping is how this process works to get you up to speed so you’re on the same page with us during next six videos I’ll join you at the end of the video to wrap things up and to be able to help you take things to the next level with that being said let’s kick off today’s training let’s do it all right so this is a very basic diagram again hi drawing flow crazy I just wanted to explain it and I will try milling this together so this is the concept of dropshipping kay first things i want to tell you how basic retail business works and then i’ll tell you how to fit yourself in there so what’s happening is these customers are shopping they’re sending money to these retailers this represents a retailer such sending their money to this retailer and what they’re doing is that retailer is then sending the product right back to the customer okay so on Christmas a lot of people get to go online they’re gonna spend money on sites whether it’s Amazon or whether it’s your favorite site whatever it is and that company’s gonna ship products back to the consumer all we’re doing is we’re inserting ourselves into the middle of this process so instead of this right here so those dollars watch this we are actually just creating our own store okay we’re creating our own store just like that it’s got our own product same products as them it’s the same exact concept okay it’s our own store but what’s happening is that this person here then becomes the wholesaler this is the store that we get products from we feature these on our site and we’re marking them up you see one dollar sign we’re gonna go over here we’re gonna mark these up a lot higher maybe two three four five times higher so we find a wholesaler we put the products on our website now the customers come and they pay us we turn around and we pay the wholesaler so they might pay us five ten fifteen twenty dollars we might pay the wholesaler just two or three or four dollars the wholesaler ships the product on our behalf this is called drop shipping the customers are ordering from our site then we’re placing the order with the wholesaler and they’re shipping the customer so we do not have to have any inventory we don’t need to have any handling shipping any of that kind of stuff all we need to do is take pictures of products put them on our website and then all the money comes to us the money comes directly to our bank account so if $20 comes to us we’re taking $4 and sending it off to the vendor so this is what you just explained with your king camo site that’s exactly so like what’s an example of a price that you might get a product over here and how you might mark it up on your website yes so you can at the end of the day all comes down to perceived value right how much can you sell like this necklace for can you sell 20 or 30 dollars so there’s been plenty of times where I’ve taken two or three dollar items and sell them for twenty or thirty dollars that’s kind of the retail model then there’s also where the free plus shipping where you can actually get a product and give it away for free and just charge a premium shipping price so let’s do that let’s actually now that people understand the basic concept of how this drop shipping things work we’ve shown them we’ve drawn it up let’s do this let’s go ahead and drop the two types of offers that are most effective the free plus shipping type and let’s talk about the retail price cuz there’s gonna be some times you’re gonna take a $2.00 product and mark it up to $20 there’s gonna be other times you’re gonna take a $2.00 products and give it away for free and just charge the customer for shipping and handling both of them work well let’s just go into both products right now let’s break it down [Music] all right so I’ve drawn up a lot of numbers up on the board we’re gonna walk through this here’s what we gonna do Lauren someone tell you I’m gonna break down free plus shipping and then I’m gonna break down the retail sales model get some of your feedback and you could try and kind of talk about the difference between each one and what maybe beginners and newbies should get started with so two types of offers let’s start we here on the left side with free plus shipping with free plus shipping you’re essentially giving away the product for free which is a huge incentive the people they just pay for shipping and handling it’s a basic thing right free plus shipping and handling so the cost of your product these are gonna be hypothetical numbers and then if we have time well let’s throw a real number in here some radical stuff hypothetical numbers the cost of your product you’re going to go to a wholesaler let’s say you find a product that would be good to give away for free let’s say it’s a dollar and fifty cents maybe it’s a little necklace or something like that it cost you a dollar fifty to be able to get that product then you’re gonna have a cost of shipping in order to ship it to the customer you probably need to pay another atleast dollar fifty maybe two dollars right in this case a dollar fifty for the product a dollar fifty for the shipping that’s three dollars then you have the cost of your advertising we call these the three main costs product shipping and advertising the cost of advertising it’s unknown it’s different for everybody let’s just say that it was $2.00 okay let’s say you were paying two dollars per customer that actually buys that product okay so for basically what your goal is your goal is to place facebook ads and try to give away these products for free and somebody to make it all the way to the end of the cart where it’s 995 shipping and handling they pay that and then they get the product delivered again if you’re writing down notes write down these three things cost a product shipping and advertising all together in this example that’s five dollars when you have all your overhead at five dollars or less especially even six dollars you’re in a really good opportunity for free plus shipping that’s kind of the margins you want to be in well you can do your price you’re selling to the customer is free and then you’re gonna set a shipping price nine ninety five shipping and handling is like the go-to price to set so your overhead is five dollars but it’s nine ninety five shipping and handling so your markup is four dollars and ninety five cents so here’s how it works with the free plus shipping you are collecting $9.95 you’re collecting that full amount and then you’re turning around and you’re giving the vendor three dollars okay that’s gonna be the product for the the product of the shipping and then you’re giving Facebook two dollars so out of that nine ninety five you collect three dollars goes to the vendor two dollars goes to Facebook you keep the rest you keep the spread the difference which is four dollars and ninety five cents it’s very very simple you place it out on Facebook somebody purchases maybe you get nine ninety five in a bank three dollars goes to the vendor two dollars goes to Facebook four ninety five goes to you now it doesn’t seem like a lot but with the free plus shipping model is so exciting you could sell thousands of units of something we have people that are selling a thousand units a week suddenly five dollars average per sale that suddenly $5,000 a week seems like a lot of money or even a thousand units in a month five thousand dollars in a month is a great income and keep in mind that’s profit after expenses real money in your bank account that’s free plus shipping now the second model here at Lawrence is retail sales with retail sells you’re doing the same exact thing but what’s a little bit different is instead of doing free plus shipping you’re actually charging for the product now less people will buy it so you might have to pay a little bit more money to acquire customer in this example you’ve got the same price the product the product doesn’t change for you whether you decide to retail it or give it away free you got the same price of shipping nothing really changes so your cost to the vendor is the same you’re just choosing to market up differently now your cost of advertising might go up when you’re giving something away for free advertising might be a lot less expensive when you start charging especially the more money you charge the more it’s going to take to acquire customer so in this case I doubled it instead of spending $2 in advertising maybe now you’re spending $4 to acquire customer so your overhead the total overhead you have is seven dollars on average for that products you’re retailing now you got to decide how much to sell it for so if it’s costing you let’s say $7 your price let’s say you set a price of $22 as your price for that product $22 product and then you have shipping and handling you can actually choose to sell this for $22 with free shipping or you could even choose to add a shipping and handling charge most people it there to be a shipping and handling charge so they really don’t even mind so literally I just we just snuck in a $3 shipping and handling charge so you can literally charge $22 plus $3 shipping and handling so your total price you’re accepting from the customer is $25 you’re getting $25 and out of that $3 is going to the vendor $4 is going to Facebook and you’re keeping the difference $25 – $7 overhead equals $18 per sale you are literally getting $18 per sale that you get to keep in commissions that is fantastic $18 per sale now over here 495 roughly 5 per sale and over here $18 per sale two different models two different approaches now here’s the thing you might think more profit is better but there’s not always there’s other things that go in here that’s more to bring you in Laurens you’re an expert at this you went from you know starting up your first store placing your first $5 adds to several hundred thousand dollars in sales why don’t we break this down what do you recommend what are some of your thoughts on the difference between these and what do you recommend for beginners who are just looking to get started yes so when I first started the owning type of offers that I ran were free plus shipping generally because it that advertising is very cheap okay and you can find a lot of these products on these supplier catalogs that you can literally give away for free and people will justify paying 995 for shipping the only downside with free plus shipping is that you need a lot more volume to produce bigger numbers but nonetheless the model works perfectly so once we started with free plus shipping after about three three months 90 days we did about $100,000 in sales we actually replicated the same process but instead of doing free plus shipping we moved to the retail sales and we actually did six figures in sales in half that time Wow Wow no there’s a reason that happens and I think people really need to understand this so you started here and then you moved here one of the things people don’t understand I don’t want to get too complicated yeah is that Facebook has something called a conversion pixel it’s a little pixel you put on your website and it reports data back to Facebook every time a customer purchases facebook gets smarter with every purchase so what happened how is it that you can start here and then you can maybe move to retail on Facebook smarter how is that beneficial yeah so like you were saying with the pixel the pixel is all about data so generally when you first start off your pixel doesn’t have any data right so in order to generate data I did the free plus shipping and we generated a lot of it so once Facebook knew how to acquire a customer and what I was looking for once I moved over to the retail side Facebook was even easier to find them because that’s what’s called a matured pixel meaning that when you have thousands of orders from Facebook when you move over here Facebook already knows your exact type of customer so like going back to your King camel that’s the hunting niche right so you might try a bunch of stuff Facebook might identify that people 18 to 24 really aren’t buying your product much but people let’s say 35 to 55 are so Facebook gets smarter Facebook starts going people that watch this TV show are more likely to buy people that liked this fan page are more likely to buy they study the data and they start serving your ads more towards potential buyers so stead of the millions of people out there they’re finding the people most likely to buy your product so every sale that happens Facebook gets smarter and when they’re able to tell you that your ad cost can come down yeah absolutely what once Facebook knows what you’re looking for that ad cost is gonna drop dramatically that’s awesome you guys to listen what Lawrence is recommending is start over here with free plus shipping learn the ropes there’s some downsides to it but learn the ropes get used to it and then move over here to retail sales now the one thing I want to talk about retail sales this might look really glamorous right here 18 dollars per sale and profit but that’s assuming you’re good enough to get a customer for only $4 you might need some experience so here’s the thing if if you’re charging $25 and your overhead is $7.00 or let’s even say your overhead is $3.00 here right that means you have $22 that you have in advertising requests so instead of spending $4 per customer would it be worth it if you were spending $10 per customer let’s say you were very very new and a beginner even if you were spending $10 per customer that’s $6 more still you’re making $12 profit so the retail model really allows you to do that we think it’s a powerful way so here’s what I want to do Lawrence let’s throw in some real numbers these are just kind of theory sure why don’t we take your keen King camo numbers and why don’t we actually roll those in as real numbers to be able to show people the real cost of product real cost shipping the average adds you were doing why don’t we just go ahead and look at all that right now in fact I could actually let’s break it down yeah these were put in real numbers I actually I know the cost and the shipping and and my average customer acquisition so you could just kind of plug them in and then we can just do the math and see exactly what’s going on awesome so let’s do that so let’s basically take all these numbers and let’s change all the numbers here and let’s use a real example with actually Lawrence’s real products right here and let’s do this so we’re gonna just swap out the numbers now what products are we discussing we doing them yeah let’s let’s do with the buck and doe necklace the one that I showed up on the way already show yes okay so and we’ll make sure you guys could see this the cost of the product for that bucket no necklace to the vendor what was the individual cost that product yes so the cost was one dollar and eighty three cents okay one dollar and eighty three cents okay what was the cost of shipping using that a package yes so shipping was two dollars and 20 cents two dollars and 20 cents okay now on advertising were you giving this one away was this a retail sale or was it a free plus shipping so this is a retail item perfect or in the right category so what was your average cost in facebook ads that it took to acquire a customer yeah so average customer acquisition was about five blocks about five bucks and of course it’s gonna be different there’s yesterday exact you know it could be a little higher a little lower but around five bucks was average okay so around five dollars so let’s do the math so what happens is your overhead total you’re counting all this up because that’s automatically this goes to the vendor and that goes to Facebook so $5 $6 $7 $8 right there’s eight dollars nine dollars and three cents okay and you know I could just go I could just round that off but we’ll just go ahead and do nine dollars and three cents so to be clear he found a product that cost the dollar eighty-three shipping to a customer costs 220 so right off the bat that’s like four bucks and three cents and then on top of that it’s taking about five dollars to acquire a customer it ends up being about nine dollars in overhead that he has so he has to sell the product for at least nine dollars to break-even anything above nine dollars he could start making profit so what did you decide to sell the product for like the and the second question is did you add shipping and handling on time sure yes so when I was doing my product research I kind of seen that similar items selling for twenty five to thirty five so I decided to be right in the middle and I went for twenty nine ninety eight when t nine ninety twenty nine ninety now one of the things about retail is that if when you’re in retail if you charge $30 for something that seems significantly more expensive than $29 and so what you could do is you could learn to do that just kind of take whatever figure you want to do sell it for drop it by like five cents and that’s why you always go into stores and something could be nine ninety five because that seems significantly cheaper than ten dollars even though it’s only five cents cheaper that’s why we use retail numbers so twenty nine ninety and then over here how much in shipping and handling and we charged five dollars and ninety five cents for shipping five dollars and ninety five cents okay so let’s look at the offer here Lauren says a product on his story’s charging $29.90 for he’s on top of that he’s charging an additional five ninety five shipping and handling now my math might be a little bit off so you might have to help him here but it looks like we can Brown that up let’s say that that was thirty and let’s say that that was six that’d be $36 – fifteen cents that would be thirty-five dollars and 85 cents so your actual cost here is thirty-five dollars and 85 cents okay $35.95 that’s the actual price that you’re collecting from the customer so when the order came in thirty-five dollars and 85 cents went directly to your bank account God came in went directly to account out of that $35.95 you’ve got at least nine dollars in overhead so now we got to do the profit we got to figure out what your actual profit is so $35 – nine dollars is basically $26 eighty five cents times three cents is 82 cents so it’s 2682 so your profit was twenty six dollars and 82 cents just like that 2682 so every single sale you found a product for a dollar eighty three and you’re able to do it in a way that every single sale you’re making twenty six dollars and 82 cents profit so even if your cost of advertising was double even if it was costing you ten dollars per customer still you would have you know twenty one dollars two cents profit so you have this profit margin it gives you a lot of money to work with in case there’s any problems in case there’s anything like that now were you able to sell what 10 20 of these 50 of them yeah we ended up selling close to a thousand of these these specific necklaces and yeah it’s great so once once your you know your picture gets the data then the retail model becomes really easy and I mean you can see over almost $27 profit per sale after product cost shipping costs and advertising you guys listen I just want to focus on this Lauren says he saw him again this interview is somebody who went from seven dollars an hour two and a half years ago to generating over seven hundred thousand dollars in e-commerce sales online and right here this is the math that he used he showed you an example when he joined for free you’re gonna actually get the case study he’s literally showing you an example of how he sold about a thousand units that had roughly a twenty seven dollar profit margin you guys and that’s how he’s able to jump in there and show these stores that do massive volume ok that’s how he’s able to generate so much revenue so it’s not just about big screenshots of money made it’s also about profit now this system is something that we cannot guarantee you’re gonna succeed with it’s not something that every single person just starts in a success with but hopefully Lawrence’s story has inspired you to at least check it out people ask me all the time Chris how do you make money online this is what I suggest you start with I suggest you follow our system set up your own store using our step-by-step system we’re gonna show you exactly how to set it all up start with free plus shipping offers and have retail products on your site because here’s the part that’s crazy we show these numbers there’s a few things they’re gonna happen that are better than this for example when you give away a product for free do do the customer only get one product or do sometimes they order two or more products for free yeah so you will get those customers that you just want one off product but then you’ll get those that want two three or even four products so generally you know shipping would go up for each product that they would get so that average cart value is gonna continue rising yeah so what he’s saying is that if you’re giving away a product for free what you might do is you might say limit for per customer now what’s happening is this same customer is getting four of that product for free but you’re charging them shipping and handling on each one okay so if your shipping and handling goes up every single one your profit goes up in that exact customer so that exact customer is now worth more money to you your advertising cost was the same but you just made more money so you’re gonna have ways to make more money another thing that’s gonna happen is after they do free plus shipping you can actually retarget that customer on Facebook and you could say hey we just added a bunch of new products to our store come on back and buy again and now you’re able to remarket to them on facebook and now the average customer value might go up and up and up this is just the starting point you guys we have seen people that have started in their first month be able to get to $1,000 a
