hello everyone welcome back to my channel so today I have another girl boss movement video for you guys today’s video I’m going to do my five simple steps to starting an online business this is a very broad outline of how certain business obviously there’s a lot that goes into the inner workings of it and so if you don’t know about me in my business um I don’t want to go into it now cuz I go into it in other videos but I’ll link those below and I actually just started a podcast guys so you may not know this if you don’t follow me on social media or my blog but I started doing podcast episodes so it’s sort of like a video but you can listen on your phone and listen in your car so I just did a podcast on my startup with my company it’s sort of my story with it how I started when I started it how I got to where I am today it so now that I’m looking to help friends and family and other clients start up their businesses and you guys have a lot of questions about how to start a business I thought I would do this video for you today so let’s go ahead and dive right in my first step is of course you have to have an idea and you have to have passion behind that idea so when you make really amazing baked goods and you want to sell them to your community or maybe you make jewelry and you want to sell it globally you have to have an idea but then also the that idea you have to have the love and the passion for it for example maybe you love math and you’re an amazing tutor to your friends when they ask for help and so you want to start a tutoring business but you also have to actually love teaching others and sure it’s one thing to just teach your friend how to do a simple math equation but it’s another thing to have people pay you and expect you to teach them and expect them to learn and then work for it with a stranger for like over an hour in a session if that doesn’t fulfill you and you’re not getting anything back it’s not rewarding to yourself then you’re gonna eventually gonna get burnt out no matter how good at math you are or no matter how much money you’re making your best you’re gonna get burnt out if you don’t love it you don’t feel fulfilled I’m not saying that every moment of your business or every moment of your work is going to be amazing and you’re gonna feel like butterflies and confetti the main part of the business you have to love doing okay step two is your branding and a lot of people I feel skip over this especially when their branding is themselves so as a youtuber you are your brand a big corporation has a logo and has it and a color board you need this for your business too and this is mostly what I focus on my consultations I help women and their YouTube channels or their blogs or soon-to-be businesses with color boards and priming fonts and your logo and the vibe you want people to feel when they come and see your brand or see you or what products you offer that is something that needs to be decided from the start up and once you get that down and in place then you have a lot of room to grow in your brand you know who you are you have that short elevator pitch which is a one-minute pitch about yourself and your brand and what it’s about you need to lay all these things out as a foundation and once it has that strong foundation your business can grow and be strong and also for looks this is very important you want to look professionally you want to look like you know what you’re doing and so matching colors and logos is all important my next step for starting an online business is you obviously need a platform online so a website I did my website myself I didn’t have some help later on of just like making it look better and I’m still working on maybe transferring my website to a different host my 3 that website hosted I know of and they’re very popular are Wix calm which I use WordPress and Squarespace all these are free starting out where there’s at least a free trial but then after you want to continue to grow if you want more features one more ways to grow on it then you have to pay more and so just find out what works best for you read a lot of articles on comparing all the websites and see what works best for you and your business you’re selling on an online product there’s Shopify and Etsy which I know of and you can also sell products like three Wix or through WordPress but if you’re just selling products and you don’t really want a website of your own if you don’t wanna customize everything then there’s Etsy or Shopify and I’ll have all the links to these below but if graphic design and web design just scares the heck out of you and you just can’t imagine yourself you know choosing colors and moving texts and all that you can actually hire a website designer these can get very pricey um starting in like the hundreds of dollars for whole website but maybe if you do enough research if you know searching around maybe you can find a every lance website designer business starting out that’ll give you a discounted rate if you’re one of their first clients you can always just do it yourself – and try that out my fourth step is to have a social media presence so you need an Instagram you need a Twitter and you need a Facebook you can’t have just one of them but I really recommend having all three and if you want to go even more into it you can have a LinkedIn profile you can have a Pinterest and so social media is the easiest way to advertise for free so it is so so so important it’s how you’re gonna advertise it’s how you’re going to monetize you can even make money through your posts it’s how you’re gonna reach new clientele and make and build friendships with your current clientele social media is just so important when having a business especially an online business obviously so really work on your social media make it look professional make it match your theme and your color board use the same fonts and colors again this is what I work with women on on my website is making your social media match your website or match your blog so say already have a personal Instagram where you just post pictures of your friends on the weekends make a separate Instagram for your business it needs to be professional it needs to be on business mode on Instagram add your email address tight link to the vibe and just really focus on that social media presence in the first few months of your startup and my final step is to have a plan so even if you haven’t started your business while you’re working on it plan it out set a schedule for when you want to get things done you want to create your new Instagram profile by this date you want to have your website done by this day and then have your launch date set a specific date now while it’s still in your head maybe it’s six months from now maybe it’s a month from now but set a launch date and you’re always working towards that launch date it’s just because then this idea of oh yeah I want to have my own business it’ll slip to the back of your mind things will get in the way and you’ll never get to it so set aside ten minutes a day and work on this idea or an hour a week or however long you can to work towards idea towards passion towards the street another little side thing I’m gonna put in with your plan is to have feedback so when you’re designing your website when you’re working on your ideas and your prices and all that to get feedback whether that’s from your social media presence you can do a Twitter poll or an Instagram post about it or just hug your family and friends like ask them like they were clients or they were strangers coming to your website and pay attention if so so so much to feedback before I even start my first consultation I made a Google Form survey and I send that survey to all my clients after our session and I ask them to give me feedback of what I could improve what they like I take quotes from that survey it’s just amazing so use Google Forms or like I said just ask a family and Fred hey do you like the way this looks at this appealing but just pay attention to feedback and learn from it adapt from it so I know that’s maybe sounds like a lot and like I said there’s more little things in there but those are the main five steps that I personally think you need to have down before launching or starting a business anyone can have it online business it’s really possible for anyone and it’s so fun and so rewarding so I definitely recommend hopping on that idea and passion and running with it if you have any questions feel
