The radio station’s history dates back to 1923, when it was originally established as CFQC-AM. Murphy and his business partner, David Streb, founded the station. Today, it is the most popular radio station in the area.

In 2004, the station moved to a new studio in the north end of the city. The station’s format was revamped to move from its traditional country music format to an alternative rock style. The last song played on CFQC was Stand Tall by Burton Cummings. This transition to a contemporary country music format lasted until the end of 2007. It’s now a part of the Saskatoon Media Group.
In 1995, CFQC-FM relocated to 600 AM, where it remained until 2007. Soon afterward, CJWW took over the station and changed the format to New Country. The station’s last song was “Hits 600” by Burton Cummings. Then, the new call letters became CKBL and 92.9TheBullrocks.com. They are an up-and-coming country group.
