dough trees and welcome back to another video with me today is an exciting video a highly requested video that I’m very very excited to film for you guys simply because I know it’s something that you guys have been wanting to know that I’ve been asked a lot lately and I don’t mind sharing it with you guys to help you pursue your dreams this is this is information that I wish other people would have told me that I kind of had to learn on my own so let’s get straight into the video what’s really important when building your business is to build your brand first there are certain things that I will go in depth about and then there are certain things that I won’t go in depth about because I want to encourage you to do your own research now depending on what field of business that you’re trying to pursue it’s going to be a different path that you may have to take so if you’re trying to do something in retail you’re trying to start your own clothing line business then I’ll be speaking more from that perspective than like I would if you were trying to get into real estate I don’t know nothing about no real estate now all of these things that I’m telling you guys just a little disclaimer are things that I have learned on my own of the things that I do when you are dealing with entrepreneurship and when you are talking about the field of entrepreneurship everyone’s path is different everyone’s business is different everyone’s culture is different everyone runs their things and handles things differently so the way you do business may not be the way that I do business or there are certain things that you will settle for that I won’t settle for certain things I’ll settle for that you won’t settle for so keep that in mind we’re watching this video I’m only sharing information that I have learned from my experience so yeah feel free to comment below if you’re an entrepreneur or have your own business yourself and you guys can communicate down below and possibly exchange information and help each other out so first step that we’re going to be talking about in this series that I’m doing actually with how to start your own business is to build a brand you I don’t recommend starting any business or selling anything without actually having a solid brand developed first and so I’m speaking from selling online we’re talking about online selling I don’t know anything about selling from a store I don’t have my own store all I do is have my own website that I sell from my businesses they will stay black dot-com you guys can check it out I saw my own hoodies I have been doing it for about I guess you can if you combine all of the time that I’ve been working on say well stay black it’d be about two years so um I’ll give you a little bit of background knowledge about what I did in my steps to building my business I did a lot of research so I knew that I needed to build a brand before I could build a business now building a solid brand on social media that is what I am pretty good at I discovered how to do it the best way to do it and the quickest way to do it which works for me and I will tell you guys that I did a little research on each social platform so that’s Twitter Facebook Instagram I did pictures as well I did tumblr as well and YouTube now in snapchat but with all of these take it into place the three leading well yeah the three leading um social platforms back then was YouTube Instagram and snapchat and so I was on those and now I mean today it would be I would say that the three leading platforms today would probably be Instagram would probably be snapchat number one Instagram number two and then possibly maybe Twitter YouTube YouTube and Twitter are like that with each other but yeah so something that you should take into consideration is that I chose to get on YouTube because I knew it was the fastest way to build my brand and to feed each social platform at the same time YouTube is that platform so basically what I did was establish a brand on YouTube first and then I ventured out into Instagram and then eventually snapchat and now here I am and I have a pretty a pretty cute solid brand on my social platforms so I started on YouTube because I knew that was the best route to take and what YouTube does is YouTube is more personal so I’m on camera with you guys I’ve been on with you guys I do a lot of videos I talk about my life and that means that your audience starts to become attached to you something that’s very important when building a brand is making sure that your audience your clientele your consumer is attached to you um relates to you and believes in you that’s very very important consumers aren’t going to consume if they don’t believe in the product that they’re purchasing and if not the product and the person and something that I knew was very important for my brand was that my audience needed to believe in me as well as my product and so that is how I went about doing what I did I recommend you establish a business plan first and business plan templates that you can look up on Google do that on your own time I started on YouTube because I knew that I could develop that relationship with people while also feeding my other social platforms so when people follow me on YouTube they’re like oh well I guess I need to follow her Instagram her Twitter her snapchat because I love her so much so when you’re doing your thing if you were to start on YouTube like I did and start building your brand on YouTube first you establish a certain relationship with your audience to where they want to support you in every aspect they want to support you as a person they want to support your business they want to support your product they want to support whatever movement that you are taking place in because you guys have established that relationship it’s very important to be authentic with people however you decide to build your brand so I started on YouTube first if you don’t want to start on YouTube you can start on Instagram first and something that’s very very important is to not ask but give give give so when you’re building your brand you want to make sure that you’re giving giving giving before you start asking a thing that I do is I give give give give give so I feed my audience really great things I give them great content I give them great ideas I give them fun stuff I give them everything that they want you give give give give give and then that’s when you boom hey guys support me with this hey guys go buy that hey guys go do this so what it is is you’re constantly giving that they almost feel compelled like they have to give you back something when you ask for one thing but when you’re constantly asking hey follow me on this hey buy my products but no one knows who you are no one’s gonna buy your product nobody believes in you nobody believes in your dream nobody believes in your business nobody even knows you that’s the point so you have to establish a relationship you have to build an audience you have to build a trust you have to gain their belief in whatever you want or who you are or whatever your product is and then that is when you give give give and then when it’s time for you to ask hey guys buy my bracelet they’re gonna buy your bracelet because they love you in the bracelets awesome that’s how that works with building a brand it took me about a whole year to establish my brand to about 10k getting my channel to about 20k and that’s when I started to put my business plan into action and that’s when I started to do those things I think that you need to get a little bit pretty solid on social media before you start your business online um but what’s building your brand comes time and patience YouTube didn’t happen overnight it didn’t happen over a month it happened over five months it happened over a course of a long time and that’s the same thing with social media sometimes people just blow up overnight sometimes it just takes that one viral video or that one viral meme or whatever or that one tweet sometimes it takes that but then other times you have to build up to that point I think what people acknowledge most in 2016 is honesty being authentic and honestly just being yourself these are things that you take advantage of the trends that are happening in 2016 hop on different trends always stay up-to-date always know what’s going on and always pay attention to what people want what people are saying and what people are doing there are certain apps that you can download that I encourage you to research yourself as well certain apps that you can download to manage how many people are liking your how many people are liking your pictures how many people are unfollowing you how many people are following you you need to establish what’s unique about you what’s unique about your page your profile your feed what’s unique about your product what’s unique about your brain and and really really Express that in every way that you can sell your dream sell it sell your dream you have to make people believe in your brand make people believe in your dream so if it’s something that you’re passionate about talk about it so much that other people are passionate about it nobody is going to invest in you if they don’t believe in your dream okay so those are the first steps that you need to take when building your brand on social media and online you have to know what people want this thing is also about what you want to put out it’s about how much you like the product but at the end of the day you’re not putting the product out just to have it out you’re putting it out to sell if people don’t like it no one’s gonna buy it you’re good you’re not going anywhere so as much as you may like it if your consumers aren’t feeling it you make the adjustment because that’s what you need to do to sell your product you’re not putting a product out just so we can sit in your room and you can stare at it you’re putting a product out so you can sell it do what you have to do to make sure your brand is solid a lot of mistakes that people make when going into entrepreneurship or going into selling something is that they try to sell it first and then build their brand as they go so they’ll have an Instagram of 15 followers and they’d be like yo buy my shirts or buy my glasses and then are wondering why they only have two sales or if any sales at all no one knows you that’s the point so things that you want to do to basically get known don’t ask for shoutouts that’s out that’s so 2014 get out of it don’t ask for shoutouts it’s not paid promotion there are these things called pay promotion so on Instagram you can hit up a local page you probably see like they’ll have like promotion in their body email them and you basically pay them to promote your products or your brand I recommend having first people promote your brand before they promote your product so say like like I’ll give you an example I didn’t pay there was this dark skinned page it was a dark skinned girl page and I didn’t pay them to promote me but they promoted me because one of my pictures they saw a picture that they liked of me or whatever and that initially made me gain about 2,000 followers because they were such a huge page but I hope you guys are following what I’m saying here it’s very very important that the people who are known make you known so if you have to invest money into that then invest money into that but what I will say is be careful when you’re investing your money into promotion because sometimes it’s not worth it I have about 18k 18.6 K on Instagram and there are people who have 50 K on there in serum 50k they have about 1200 likes per picture I get about 1200 likes per picture on average and I only have 18 K and they have 50 K so something about their numbers something about their revenue isn’t adding up where it’s not really worth $100 for them to post your picture for six hours you you understand I’m saying so you have to be very smart and choosing who you want to promo you because sometimes it’s not always worth it there are people who have a hundred thousand followers and get the same amount of likes that I get I only got 18 thousand something’s not adding up buddy so be careful how you invest your money is what I’m saying but paid promotions are one way that you want to start to build your brand and promote your product and have people just get a buzz going about you so the people who are known get them to make you known and another thing that you need to keep in mind which I’m going to end the video with would be to be remarkable as a brand as an owner as a product everything about your brand everything about your business needs to be remarkable look at the keyword in that word the key word in the word remarkable is remark if people aren’t making remarks about it if people aren’t talking about it people aren’t telling their friends about you about your brand about your product if it’s not getting hella retweets and it’s not getting hella likes on Instagram and people aren’t responding well to it find another product or upgraded it has to be remarkable if it’s not remarkable your brand isn’t gonna go anywhere it’s not solid or you’ll be here today and gone tomorrow filling them saying it just has to be remarkable that’s the key information that I’m going to give you guys as far as building your brand goes but before I got into actually developing a business and getting into the logistics of that I just wanted to tell you guys what you need to do before you actually start your business which would be build brand which does take time building a business or having a business is not like a year thing it’s kind of like a six to eight ten year thing like Apple took a while to build themselves before they actually became Apple stay will stay black is still building I’m no where no where near where I actually see my business going but it’s about building you know what I’m saying in my bio I’m gonna link down some pages that I recommend that you follow on Instagram on Facebook
