hey guys my name is Matt I’m 27 years old and I work 100% from home I’m not super crazy rich but I do make enough to afford a comfortable apartment in downtown LA and also enough to take a couple trips a year and the best part is I only work 20 hours a week it’s not the lifestyle for everyone but it’s the lifestyle that I want so what exactly do I do I make part of my income from my youtube channel which includes the YouTube ad revenue which usually comes out to about $1,200 a month and then sponsorship revenue which usually results in additional $800 a month these amounts are how much I take home after taxes and then another part of my revenue is that I create all the social media posts for bro science live which is a big YouTube channel I can’t disclose how much I make from them because it’s an ongoing contract but it’s a good amount I’m going to focus on the three main ways that people make money from home today that’s particularly common among people who are in their 20s and 30s I chose these three because they have these common attributes number one you absolutely do not need to go back to school to learn any of these I actually recommend not going back to school because they’re not taught in schools number two there’s a lot of people who make well over $100,000 a year in each of these methods number three they have a lot of opportunities to work from home number four there’s also a lot of opportunities to earn passive income so the three ways to work from home are web development which is creating and managing websites typically by using WordPress HTML CSS and JavaScript alright so the next is ecommerce typically buying in bulk from China and reselling here in the US or even buying from the clearance sections of stores either online or in person and reselling on Amazon and actually you’d be surprised with how much money so I can make by doing this number 3 is social media typically growing an Instagram Facebook or YouTube account though there are also other platforms but I recommend those three as of right now if you’re wondering which one best fits your personality it works like this if you’re a math and science person like any sort of typical analytical tasks usually associated with left brain is something that you naturally like then web development would be best for you if you’re a people person who enjoys business marketing or enjoys trial and error type activities ecommerce might be a good fit for you the last one social media is for people who are artistic people who are natural photographers performers graphic designers videographers comedians entertainers and even bodybuilders do well on social media you don’t even need to be in front of the camera you can build social media pages by just writing jokes like the Instagram page sarcasm only that has nearly 8 million followers now I’m going to go into details with each of these their perks their downsides and I’ll mention good resources on how to learn each all these resources are very cheap or free I’m not sponsored by any of them all right so let’s get started with web development web de belem specifically involves learning the languages HTML CSS and JavaScript as well as becoming an expert with WordPress I recommend learning WordPress first because it’s fairly intuitive it’s not a software language it’s mostly click and drag and you don’t need to know any code to make a functional website there is a lot of YouTube channels on how to learn WordPress and you can actually get a good-paying job by just knowing WordPress you actually don’t need to learn any code and I would say if your WordPress expert you’re starting pay would be you know very entry level would be around $15 an hour and then if you’re experienced WordPress professional you could be earning upwards around $50 an hour so there’s a lot of opportunity in this career and it’s not taught in schools at all now eventually if you want to start earning a big salary in web development you’re going to have to learn HTML CSS and JavaScript I recommend MPGs YouTube channel to learn the theory behind the parter parts of JavaScript and I highly recommend free code camp com if you want to practice problems and projects in JavaScript as the name denotes free code camp is completely free alright let’s go over the perks of working in web development it has high pay extremely in-demand Glassdoor says there’s over 49,000 jobs available for software engineers which is significantly more than any other profession not all of them are in JavaScript or web development but a lot of them are the pay will easily go to over $120,000 by the time you have five plus years of experience alright but let’s go over the shortcomings because you know nothing no career is perfect right there’s a huge learning curve before you’re good enough to get hired at a job now some people can teach themselves while many are going to have to attend a boot camp which ranges between nine thousand dollars to eighteen thousand dollars for three months of education but it’s pretty intense there has been a study that has proven the effectiveness of boot camps and I left a link to that info graph in the description below alright so let’s move on to the next one its ecommerce but I’m also going to include flipping items in this section as well this method has been around for a while but really became popular when Tim Ferriss wrote the book the 4-hour workweek if you want a good starter guide into getting into e-commerce then I highly recommend that book Tim Ferriss actually first got rich by doing e-commerce he sold a brain supplement called brain quicken a youtube channel that does a decent job explaining this stuff is project life mastery I’ll leave a link to his YouTube channel below in case you want to check his stuff out the basic premise is that you buy in bulk from Alibaba and resell the items on eBay or Amazon if you’re an arts-and-crafts person you can sell your handcrafted items on Etsy calm the customers on Etsy are willing to spend more to have a unique and handcrafted item while customers on eBay and Amazon are where people shop to get the cheapest price possible one way to get started in this industry isn’t a bind book and sell right away usually this is really scary for people so a safer way to get started in e-commerce is a method called retail arbitrage this is where you buy something for steep discount usually in a clearance aisle in a retail store or website and then resell it on Amazon at a regular price you’re thinking how much could someone earn by doing this because Amazon prices are already so cheap but there is a guy who makes over a hundred thousand dollars a year by doing this on the side I’ll include a link to his podcast in the description below as well retail arbitrage is a great way to build up your confidence before you take the plunge into buying in bulk alright let’s go over the perks of e-commerce it has the potential to earn a lot of money with only a little bit of work depending on the industry your margins can be you know over a hundred percent to as low as twenty percent usually people advertise the products using Google ads or Facebook ads and consequently by learning how to create Google and Facebook ads you actually learn skills that can lead to a high paying job at a company these jobs are under the category of ad operations digital marketing or pay-per-click manager these positions easily pay more than a hundred thousand dollars if you have three or more years of experience alright but ecommerce isn’t perfect so what are the shortcomings unfortunately Tim Ferriss book is fairly popular and so this profession is saturated a lot of products are already being bought and sold so this is why when a new product like the hoverboard comes out they tend to blow up and be everywhere because people are trying to capitalize on the big margins of a new product and tell competition comes in however on the plus side a lot of these importers are fairly unaware of what the customer wants so if you do a niche hobby you can actually better predict what will sell for example mmm a rash guards for years have been fairly generic and didn’t have a lot of creativity to them but a brand new clothing company called Newall’s apparel saw that as a problem and started making more unique rash guards and their business has been blowing up in the Jiu Jitsu community all right so the great thing about these three professions is that they can be applied to almost any niche social media is no different it can be applied to any specialty learning how to social media really depends on what audience you’re targeting there’s people that edit videos create graphics there’s people that entertain through blogs there’s people that do tech reviews and there’s people that take pictures of their ass the premise is always the same either grow your own following or work of a company to help them grow there’s the money typically comes from advertising sales and sponsored posts everything you need to know about media can be learned online while being entertaining is just from practice to be honest I’m not an expert in being entertaining so I can’t comment on that all right so let’s go over the perks of social media it’s fairly easy to get your foot in the door there’s always positions on Craigslist looking for a social media intern to work for ten to fifteen dollars an hour and the second perk is that if you do become social media famous then you become famous which is pretty cool my channel isn’t very big and I still usually get spotted about once a month which is kind of nice so if you guys see me out in public be sure to say hi even if I’m with my friends I definitely want to meet you guys but social media is not perfect there are shortcomings with social media the major shortcoming is that it’s hard to build your own following and you’re competing against everyone in the world also it’s the hardest out of all three professions to earn a substantial amount of money obviously it’s still possible when you hear about these YouTube celebrities who earn millions of dollars but it’s definitely hard to build up your own following from the ground up a lot of people are in similar situations as me learn part of my income from my own following and then another part where I’m working on a company’s social media accounts alright so that pretty much sums up the three ways that most people work from home if you’re in your 20s and 30s now I’ll explain how these professions tie together people of these professions work together all the time for example web.com is a website for new grads or college students to get jobs or internships so they built this really nice marketplace for people to get jobs but they don’t really have a way for people to discover the website so they’ll contact me to media influencer to help get their only happens if they start selling of substantial amount another way they’ll get people to buy their product is by paying social media influencers to post or talk about their product so in this
