Shiseido is one of the largest cosmetic companies in Japan, and the founder wants consumers worldwide to know that the brand he began is meant for all who seek beauty. Oddly enough, Shiseido (pronounced “she-say-doe”), whose products have a distinctly Japanese appearance and appeal, began in 1872 as Japan’s first Western-style pharmacy. Its products have been sold in the United States for over 40 years, and it has become a nearly overwhelming product line. Although there are some respectable products, Shiseido’s skin-care collection is far from a total approach to anything, unless your skin-care mantra is “it has to be average yet needlessly expensive and the routine has to include more products than any other line recommends.”
Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream
This is a very basic, overpriced eye cream that’s little more than water, standard thickener, mineral oil, Vaseline, and wax. It will feel rich and soothing over dry skin, but so will plain Aquaphor Healing Ointment for mere pennies per use. This contains a small amount of skin-repairing ingredient sodium PCA and a tiny amount of vitamin E, but not enough to warrant the expense or make this eye cream the one to buy. Besides, even with greater amounts of vitamin E or other antioxidants, the jar packaging this comes in won’t keep those ingredients stable during use. What a letdown!
By far the worst element of this eye cream is its fragrance and the presence of fragrance ingredients (such as hexyl cinnamal) known to be irritating. Fragrance is not only a problem for all skin types, but it can be especially problematic in products meant for use so close to the eye. No element of fragrance is “age-defying”; if anything, the irritation it causes is pro-aging! In the end, this product is further proof of why eye creams are not necessary. If you’re using a well formulated facial moisturizer and/or serum (and you should be) those can and should be applied around the eyes, too.

Strengths: Most of the sunscreens provide sufficient UVA protection and present a variety of options, whether you’re looking for titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or avobenzone; a handful of good (but not great) moisturizers; worthwhile oil-blotting papers; foundations with sunscreen that provide sufficient UVA protection (and there are some wonderful foundations here); pressed powder with sunscreen for oily skin; the Perfect Rouge Lipstick is one of the best creamy lipsticks at the department store; mostly good mascaras.
Weaknesses: Expensive; several drying cleansers; boring toners; no AHA or BHA products; no products to effectively manage acne; no reliable skin-brightening options despite a preponderance of products claiming to do just that; irritating self-tanners; gimmicky masks; jar packaging; uneven assortment of concealers (and some terrible colors); average to disappointing eye and brow shapers; average makeup brushes.

A total approach to health and beauty would take into account all that has been learned to date about how skin functions, how it can repair itself, how it ages, and what it realistically takes for it to look, feel, and function at its best. Such an approach does not, however, involve cleansers with alkaline ingredients that cause skin to be unnecessarily dry, lackluster toners, or far too many products with alcohol; that can only harm the skin, which isn’t beautiful in the least.
If anything, the numerous skin-care options presented here are merely average or really disappointing. Many of the moisturizers have luscious textures, but again, it takes more than a sensational feel to create exceptional products that have your skin’s best interest (and best appearance) in mind.
One point of difference with this line is that Shiseido insists on regular facial massage. That means you’ll find several facial massage creams, although most of them have traditional moisturizer formularies that differ little from what’s seen throughout the lineup. Shiseido maintains that routine facial massage creates firmer skin that’s less prone to sagging because the massage action tones the muscles, but that simply isn’t true. The muscles of the face are among the most frequently used. Repetitive muscle movements are a prime cause of expression lines around the eyes, mouth, 929Thebullrocks (http://derrida.ws) and on the forehead. Botox has become such a popular procedure because it selectively prevents these muscles from working, which smoothes creases and lines. Massage alone cannot do that; if anything, routine facial massage can encourage lines and sagging by stretching the skin. Furthermore, when skin slackens and sags, it involves more than just the muscles. Sun damage plays a role in collagen and elastin destruction, as does gravity, which causes fat pads beneath the skin to slip. And then there’s bone loss, and the fact that, as we age, skin continues to grow (yet has less to hold on to).

Shiseido Makeup
Although Shiseido is known more for their seemingly endless array of skin-care products, their makeup, while not without its problem-child products, is clearly not just an afterthought. The main and most impressive part of the color collection is the foundations. For the most part they have silky textures, and provide adequate sun protection (at least an SPF 15 with UVA-protecting ingredients). If you’re keen on shopping this line you should also pay attention to their Perfect Rouge Lipstick, 929thebullrocks lip gloss, the mascaras, and some distinctive specialty products. Items to avoid entirely include the eye and brow pencils and a couple of the eyeshadows; the makeup brushes are serviceable, but pale in comparison to what makeup artist-backed lines offer. Ignore the inflated claims that accompany many of Shiseido’s makeup products, but don’t ignore the best of what they have to offer, because in that regard, they’re better than ever!

Skin looks amazing!
I revived a few minis of this cream from Sephora. I am now on week 4 of using this in combination with other Shiseido products and am amazed at how amazing my skin looks. I am 29 years old therefore do not have a lot of wrinkles. But. my skin has never looked better. It looks smoother and brighter. My tiny wrinkles around my eyes seem to have disappeared. The texture of this cream is thick, white in colour with a very faint floral scent. It does not leave your skin feeling or looking greasy but soft and hydrated. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because I do not know which Shiseido product is making my skin look this great. I feel like its a combination of all therefore can not rate this product alone in making a difference.

Great product
I was given this to review in the summer, but it only arrived with a day until the deadline, so it was hardly a comprehensive review. To top it off, I accidentally wrote it under the wrong product (as their names and packaging are confusingly very similar). However, this means I can now leave a review that does it justice. I have never used their products before and I am impressed. The packaging is luxurious. The product is lightly scented. I only just consider my to be in the target audience for this product, but I am so impressed, I have been using it every day. It does feel a bit sticky once it is on, so I was worried that my combination skin would break out or be really greasy the next day, but this was unfounded. It is noticeably softer but not at all greasy. I’ll buy more when this one runs out!

Good product, but to be used sparingly
This is a good cream that gives result from day one – because of the reach texture I would use it primarily after a long haul flight or a day spent outside when the skin needs extra hydration. Not a game changer, but definitely a good product to be used when needed. Be mindful also that the cream that does not absorbed immediately. I would recommend to put in on at least 20 minutes before going to bed to avoid staining your pillow. Also the glass jar is quite heavy making the product a bit difficult to carry when you are in the go. I am giving it 5 stars because shiseido is a decent brand and the new launch is not bad at all

Fabulous Night Cream!
I’ve now been using this cream for a few weeks and I am super impressed by the immediate and longer term benefits. My skin definitely looks refreshed on waking, despite a few late nights and a lot of sunshine. The plumper, more radiant look continues throughout the day. The cream is quite heavy and sticky, so only for consumers who enjoy that texture at night. The only downside is the heavy glass jar that makes it unsuitable for travel. I had written Shiseido off as a brand suited more to Japanese skin than European, but I am now tempted to try more of their products.

THE BEST EYE CREAM EVER INVENTED!!
Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist 24 Eye Cream is by far the best eye cream that I have EVER used, and believe me, I have used many products ranging from the lower or cheaper end brands to more brands expensive than this cream. I always come back to this one; ALWAYS! It is very rich and creamy, and a little goes a long way. I recommend waiting a few minutes after applying before you apply any makeup just to allow this cream to absorb and do it’s work. This cream may not satisfy everyone’s needs because we all have our own opinions, however, this eye cream serves it’ purpose and stands behind it’s claims as far as I am concerned. Try it and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

Love this eye cream
I’ve used this product for 20 years. I’m 42 and people are usually surprised even though my eye area shows more than the rest of my face. It’s very emollient so if you don’t have dry skin around your eyes, this might not be for you. When I run out of this eye cream, I look at least 5 yrs older.

With this cream, you only need to use a small amount. Tried this eye cream out to try and target some of the stress wrinkles, and some puffiness. You may be amazed as to how well it absorbed into the skin and didn't leave a heavy cream feeling.
