hey guys as an active youtuber I frequently get asked how to record your computer screen for free and since I've been doing this for a few years I thought I'd go through my best free screen recording software for 2019 yeah that's right she can get free recording software and it's going to do video screen capture why do educational videos or even gaming so let's get started okay so the first free screen recording software for 2019 is the OBS studio now OBS studio is available for Windows Mac and Linux and it's kind of like the industry standard and there's a lot of streaming gamers that use OBS studio because it's super easy but I also use OBS studio to actually do my screen recording and I'm using it right now so this is what the interface looks like obviously we've got screen within screen here but it's fairly comprehensive and you actually have mic inputs and you've got various different screens and source inputs to so you can have a multi screen setup I guess that's why it's called the open broadcaster software so if you're doing live streams then over your studio could be just perfect for you but it also works as a desktop screen recorder and it's the one that I use now it's a little bit harder to set up so you want to go ahead and find a YouTube video to help you set up your OBS studio but it is free and it is full of features so another great free screen recording software that you can download in 2019 is iSpring free cam now it's a fairly basic screen recorder and this is kind of what it looks like that's right it's nothing flash and you can change the settings and do fullscreen or go back and actually select an area so this might be the only part of the screen you want to record now some of the pros for iSpring is there's no watermark or time limit or any ads so that's pretty cool and it also does a voice recording for a microphone which is awesome too and it also does high-definition recording so that's pretty awesome but it doesn't do any webcam or livestream so it is fairly basic now another free screen recording software that you can download in 2019 is ezvid video maker now it's a fast and easy screen recorder and it is available for Windows but I have Windows 10 and I was having trouble getting it started but that's perhaps because I've got OBS running as well and maybe both wanted to take control of the monitor as you can see some of the ezvid features is it works at HD does screen capture does webcam and also enables you to do screen drawing and control of the video speed so it's a fairly feature packed product and it is free so I'll put that link down below now another free screen recording software that gamers love to use is the Nvidia shadowplay now I haven't installed this today because I'm kind of running out a little bit of space but it does do instant replay and record which is pretty good if you're streaming you can broadcast games and capture gifts in 4k screenshots but best of all Nvidia shadowplay is a free but if these all seem too complicated you could also just get the DVD video soft free screen video recorder that is as basic as it comes and this video screen capture software supports Windows 7 8 and 10 so if you just need something really basic and you just want to record your screen go ahead and download DVD video soft now I've got a couple of special mentions here because you might actually want some free software but you're happy to have a watermark on the video now if that's the case well screencast-o-matic is actually pretty impressive and it literally is a one-click button and away you go plus it does have webcam and you can actually do some basic video editing and screencast-o-matic is available for the chromebook mac and windows so the other great thing about screencast-o-matic is your videos can be loaded up to the web that way you don't need to find all that free space so go ahead and download screencast-o-matic if you're looking for some good recording software for your PC it's free about like I say it does have a watermark now if you actually just want desktop recording Camtasia by TechSmith is actually quite an impressive product and a lot of my early videos that's what I used to use I didn't go ahead and do the upgrade because I since found OBS studio but it is a pretty impressive product because it does do screen recording and video editing as well so if you just need a quality screen recorder and video editor just for a short period of time I'd recommend downloading the free trial and getting Camtasia for 30 days for free so that's my
