hey guys what’s going on it’s James here back to econ insiders in today’s episode I’m gonna be talking about how you’ve been choosing neum for your ecommerce store why you should keep it simple on hard to actually find a domain that isn’t already taken so let’s jump right into guys here ad called insiders we provide tips tricks and strategies to actually scale and grow your ecommerce business it so if you think this channel will help you out but let’s get into how to choose a name for your actual business okay so Tom’s of people ask me the question James how do you actually go about picking a name for your business you know I spent days weeks trying to figure this out and I still haven’t come up with anything I’m not any further along I don’t really think that this is something you should be worrying about not that your name necessarily isn’t important but it’s not as important as you think it is like if it’s gonna take you so long to choose in the end you’re getting held up on that you’re never gonna make any progress anyway you see if we’re just picking something well it might not be perfect it doesn’t have to be perfect you’re gonna create a brown to run this deal and actually you know develop a community and people that love it but that’s never gonna happen if you don’t actually just pick something I’ll move on with it and that’s what I see a lot of people doing quite frankly I just think it’s an excuse not that actually go ahead and get started but let’s get into you know what I think should be implemented in your name and how to actually pick one and go about find the name that works for you okay so tip number one is keep it simple you know there’s a few reasons you might think it’s obvious but a lot of people go ahead and do a lot of crazy things and they’re picking their name yeah keeping it simple is key because you know if someone visits your website you want them to be able to you know they might leave it they might of the time the purchase right now but they might want to come back later and then purchase from you so you wanted to be easy memorable so they can just go to google type it in and find your website again and that’s not going to happen if you’re making a lot of these mistakes I see a lot of people nagging which is one using just adopt my Shopify them in that you get for free with Shopify that’s crazy don’t do that make sure you’re actually gonna have behind a demand for your for your website only costs like $10 totally worth it and it’s gonna give you a lot more credibility I also see a lot of people going ahead and just adding a lot of ground of numbers to their website so you know you might want the Dillion Football calm you’re obviously not gonna find that in this day and age so people just go ahead and they like football three to seven long and that’s hard for people to memorize like someone’s not gonna be able to memorize them numbers are not gonna care enough about you to memorize them numbers to go and find your store again I see a lot of people replace them like ease with threes again I wouldn’t recommend doing that you know the only time I would have a number in your actual e-commerce store or in your domain name is you know if you have it at the very start so it could be seven fitness or fitness seven calm something like that something really simple and you know it’s memorable it’s short but again M domains are probably gonna be quite hard to find right now so yeah leave the numbers out of it don’t be using the Shopify though man unless get into tip number two okay guys su tip number two is don’t be using long freezes so like don’t be having I recommend to keep it you know sort of two words what I like to do is have an adjective and then whether it’s gonna be like your niche so if you are starting so for my students in my ecommerce course which you can find on below I created a store just as an example it’s not a live store or anything but I called it FX don’t what that is is you know air packs what that means is just the pinnacle highest achieving so that it’s just gonna be good jewelry the store is a jewelry store it’s gonna be luxury jewelry and that’s what I’m trying to put across and you know obviously like luxury jewelry calm it’s probably going to be taken so what you can do is find us the source online go ahead type in luxury see what it pumps out I I don’t know how I come up with air packs I just come up with that but you know if you type in luxury air packs might be one of the words that comes up it’s a bit rounded but you know it works it means luxury it gives a bit of a story behind your brand and you can write it with that in your about Us page and you know send that message across to your subscribers and the people who follow your brand to what I like to do is you know have an adjective if it’s a niche door jewelry is not really a nation itself so what that is is sort of keeping a broad like impact stone that could be a lot of things so if that’s a general store you could really put anything you want on there and I’ll actually go ahead and be worrying about whether you can put something on there that’s not related to jewelry and you can go play with anything obviously if you’re starting a niche store I like to include initiative to whether it’s like top caps column or baskets calm you probably want to get a little bit more creative than that but go ahead and use this to source again and find something that relates to your niche and how you can actually apply that to find the domain them and that’s pretty much it for like ten number two is you know keep it simple you know don’t go over two words don’t be able to make it long for is is your demand name that people aren’t gonna remember and try not to keep them a number Jenna so let’s get into tip number three okay guys tip number three is is it memorable like when you think of a lot of the biggest sports bronze ignite aadhi does lozenger exactly except they’re all quite short and simple that’s why I recommended in the last time to you know keep it simple don’t do a lot of number Jenna that’s really just time points two and long together when someone comes to search for you again is it gonna be easy if your retargeting people so if you found a lot of facebook you know if someone is seen you on Facebook but then sees you on Instagram that gives you a lot more credibility but only if they’re like remember seeing you so if it’s something they’ve seen you know on Facebook when this pops up an Instagram are they gonna remember that they’ve seen it again before so you want that you don’t have an impact on the person I’m making you know really memorable so that when is popping up on you know if you’re retargeting on Google if you’re retargeting Instagram they’re gonna remember that they’ve seen this before and there’s more chances I’m actually than clicking through on your ad so that’s pretty much it guys one thing of it says well is when you’re choosing a domain a lot of people get held up on can they use anything better calm and again if you’re selling them in the UK obviously Cory cats fine if you want to sell in the US calm is probably ideal but a lot of my stories CO and that’s something that there’s a lot of domain names available on the Darko extension so you can go ahead use that and you know that should be fine that’s
