regular nine-to-five job it may come close most successful home businesses spend six to eight hours a day working when you’re just starting out it isn’t uncommon to spend upwards of 8 to 12 hours a day in development there is a lot of work that you wouldn’t think of if you come into this unprepared that’s why it is so important to do your homework before you start any business make sure the business you want to start if your own idea try to stand clear of promoting a business you saw in an ad somewhere don’t be a copycat come up with something that is original even if you are going into an industry that has thousands of businesses doing the same thing as you make sure you have your original twist that others do not have keep your business original and you will stand a great chance against your competition 1 what are your talents and skills the sad thing about new people starting a home business is they try and do what someone else is doing they think that since one person is doing great in that particular field they can do the same thing wrong find your talent and make a business out of it you should know the things you are good at doing everyone has something that they excel at doing compared to someone else you may have to ask a friend or family member what your talents are to find out what they are but everyone posses a talent or two you may be an office person a person that can play with your games well maybe you are a great communicator or lucky enough to be a person who can learn and pick up anything quickly either way your talents are what will make you money it took me years to finally figure out I could be a successful business consultant but after running many successful home businesses and teaching people what I know I figured out what my passion was teaching people to make money at home was my talent I love to do helped people and what better way than to teach people how to make money at home in this recession your talents will be the building block for making your Disney successful most people like what they can do well that’s why so many successful business people use their talent and build a business around them they don’t get bored and give up out of frustration your talents give you interest in those talents this will make your experience in that field you will know more about your talents than the average person because you are interested in them this is your first step to being above average in your beautiness file you are already an expert your skills will follow your talents skills come from lots of practice from your talents practice makes perfect is the mind frame you need to be in when we run a successful business take your talents and put them to use in time you will learn skills that came from your talents this will prove to be any business person strong point and the foundation of their success to coming up with ideas to gear your business award coming up with the perfect field of business may be the hardest part great you found out what your talents and skills are but how do you make a living doing it if your talent is artwork Google artwork job titles and you may be pleasantly surprised to find many businesses you could start right now scratch off every business idea that is out of the question for example if you want to work at home scratch off all your ideas that has something to do with off-site work this part is all you you have to decide out of what talents you have now which one actor you want to make money for you the smartest choice will be the one you have the most interest in doing you always hear people say I hate my job it is everyone’s dream to do what they enjoy doing every day for work pick what you enjoy most and do some research on Google to find out what will be most profitable for you don’t forget to add your originality give your customers something your competition isn’t doing now you have one foot up on your competition as well as your expertise 3 once you choose your job title and business field pursue it don’t make the same mistake most new entrepreneurs make most people come up with a great idea and then they give up or what’s worse is they tell someone or many people about their idea and someone steals it before they can get a start on it you have to follow through with whatever you start do not to start a business and then quit one thing start getting tough stay active in your ideas keep on top of what is new in your field and take advantage of it if you feel you need to quit and start over because you thought of another idea or to think long and hard about it think of ways you can revamp your new business and use your new ideas too after all you don’t want to throw away your long hours and hard work over another idea in the end it’s all about keeping up with the times change is good but when you quit and start over it can get very discouraging most people will quit when they are frustrated over starting over 4 don’t dive right into it don’t just jump right into something without doing the background research to know if it will work for you or not many people make the mistake of investing time and money into something that will eventually fail because they didn’t research it first or think of a game plan ahead of time make sure you look at the entire picture and make sure your business will have a high success rate if you can’t see a high success rate for your ideas do more research so you can make your business original and attractive to new customers if you do the same thing everyone else is doing without originality you will be sure to fail along with the other copycats sighs having a game plan setting goals and chasing them make a list of all things you want to accomplish these will be your goals make some short-term goals that will help you reach your long-term goals keep your daily was written in a book or as I call it my business diary your future goals may change as you achieve each goal so a little note book may work best for you some people choose to make a business diary in WordPad or notepad on their computer whatever is easiest for you I suggest you do it make your goals SME ot goals specific measurable achievable result-oriented timetabled make your goals realistic you probably won’t make a million dollars in your first year so don’t make this your goal make sure your long-term goals are able to be reached by achieving your short-term goals your short-term goals should be set up so they slowly stay true to your long-term goals one step at a time is the best way to achieve anything six stay active and don’t give up most people will start their business like a jet car off the line but give up after a short time your business won’t be successful if you don’t stick with it yes it’s ok to take a break when you need it but don’t go overboard with taking time off from your business the more time you take off the more you won’t want to go back to work it’s human nature be persistent in what you do for your business try not to slack off on what you were serious about beforehand your business will not do a thing if you are not consistent and stay true to what you believe staying consistent is what will slowly build your business over time don’t put things off until tomorrow tomorrow never gets here 7 research and development is what keeps us going strong research and development is the most important thing to keep your business new and fresh don’t use the same ideas and programs you used three years ago most likely those are all outdated yes it’s very important to do research and development to get your business started but it’s even more important to keep your business running strong even if you have to cheat and look at what your competition is doing keep an eye on your competition and take their ideas to a new level put your original twist on things and make them your ideas you will always stay on top of today’s technology businessworld if you keep up with what is new staying new fresh and changing with the signs will ensure your success businesses that use yesterday’s technology will only be left in the dust by their competitors doing constant research on today’s technology and knowing what works will be the key to drawing in new and repeat customers customers want what is newer and easier in today’s fast-moving world nobody wants to spend hours doing what can be done in minutes keep this in mind and you won’t have a problem drawing in new and repeat customers for the rest of your life the qualities that every entrepreneur has in common are numerous and I have chosen what I need to be the top 10 qualities and characteristics that are present in all entrepreneurs think about some entrepreneurs you know people who have gone on to achieve great success in their lives and consider what it is that makes them go on and do so well many of them have done this against all odds and for many their desire to succeed has been born out of necessity and desperation I believe when someone is truly desperate they will do anything to make things better and the strength of this determination blows any limiting factors or limiting beliefs out of the window the qualities of every successful entrepreneurs number 10 customers focus every entrepreneur knows that without their customers we are nothing many regular business owners know this as well so what separates the entrepreneur in their approach with customers the main thing is that an entrepreneur truly values and appreciates every customer they knew the power of word-of-mouth marketing over any other paid means and this is what they strive for they want their product or service to be the people’s choice of product or service for what it does for them for the value it brings them over anything else they constantly evaluate their competitors and bring something better less costly but not lesser value and is exactly what their customers want and need at that time low budget airline owners are prime examples of putting and keeping your customer first certainly the ones in the UK and Ireland refuse to bow down the governmental or elitist pressure they put their customers above everything else number nine integrity entrepreneurs must have integrity and to not have this quality would be a slight contradiction in the actual definition of entrepreneur yes they can be quite ruthless but this will not be intentionally to step over people but mainly because they are so driven because they are so interested in people and learning about them they treat them with respect because entrepreneurs know that without the backing of the people that is your potential customers the plant venture will never materialize that is why you see many of the most successful people on this earth are described as unassuming humble a good listener kind caring and always willing to put out a hand to help others you cannot buy those qualities they are inherent and the true entrepreneurs have them in abundance number eight result-oriented most entrepreneurs will not take no for an answer when they are confronted with this response will may well ask the question do you know someone who may be interested who would you suggest I speak wit etc they never allow a door to be closed without another even being slightly open if they can’t immediately find that person who does they will find a person who knows one that does they are driven not always by dollar signs but just that great sense of achievement that comes with a successful result they will always surround themselves with like-minded people as well other action takers and have little time for those that talk to talk demonstrate don’t declare should be their motto number seven persistence entrepreneurs are nothing if not persistent they know their idea is a good one and it may just be that the timing is not quite right the location is not quite right their marketing approach is not quite right but they will find a way to make things happen number six creativity and innovative entrepreneurs are by nature creative and innovative you can even see this quality in young children some children receive financial rewards for doing chores at home some children receive financial support from their parents for doing nothing some children go and find ways of earning their own money these are the entrepreneurs of the future obviously this group is much smaller than the first two mentioned there but that is done to how their parents were raised your parents were probably raised by the philosophy that if someone tells you to do something and they pay you for it the entrepreneurial child sees money-making opportunities all the time and that’s upon them they’ll make the decision and don’t wait on someone else making the decision for them number five patience and perseverance every entrepreneur has patience and perseverance although entrepreneurs may have these in fewer quantities than other regular people this is because their vision coupled with their belief and determination is pushing them forward to their next goal all of the time all entrepreneurs know however that success is not overnight they know it requires effort and we know they will make mistakes in the process what they never do do is lie down and play victim when something doesn’t go according to plan they see is that obstacle as a learning process for next time and use the learning from that to spur them on to their next challenge number four ambition and determination every successful entrepreneur has ambition and determination although I would have to say that determination is the leading factor of the two here whilst they have ambition and lots of it and you know they want better for themselves and their families just knowing is not enough the determination that steely drives they have that propels them to consistently make things happen is what separates an entrepreneur from your regular business person number three courage they confront fears and just do it all entrepreneurs have courage although they may not admit this to themselves or anyone else but they have this in abundance they may present as confident but deep inside they are quaking with nerves and anticipation but at least they take action that is what sets an entrepreneur above everyone else they are always taking action you long period spent studying for them they learn as much as they need to enable them to take the right action and they just go for it number two I believe all entrepreneurs have a strong belief in their ability although many successful people have said they quite often had no idea what they were doing from one day to the next there a new belief is what drove then on to success they knew that whatever hurdle they came across they would not stop at it subconsciously they know that obstacles is what drives them and figuring out how to and eventually getting around or over these is their main motivator they believe conscious or otherwise is what drives them forward all the time number one a vision they know what they want they visualize themselves doing it so they have the what and they have to strive to make the how happen they do this by networking furiously it is rare that a true entrepreneur will have a conversation with anyone without a purpose they may not even be aware they are doing this their natural curiosity to learn about people and that we learn what people want is just inherent within every entrepreneur so next time you feel like you’re being interrogated at a social gathering just things to ourselves is this person just being nosy or are they an entrepreneur
