I’m naturally a very quiet person but when driving for Lyft I’ve learned that talking more can be very rewarding. Think of it this way; when you pick up strangers in your car, other than the usual formalities, if you don’t say another word to that person, they have very little incentive to leave you a tip other than the fact that your have them a ride (which in their minds is already paid for). It might have been a very comfortable and quiet ride but still means nothing. But when you get to talking, it makes you more real. Your passengers get to know you a little bit. Especially when they like what you’re saying. Also ask them questions about themselves (do more listening than actual talking, laugh at their jokes etc). People love to talk about themselves trust me. By the end of that ride, chances are your passenger will not only tip you, they will tip over the recommended amount.
2. Have A Clean Car
This should be the case anyway. Make sure your car interior space is presentable when picking up passengers. I personally dust out the carpets and seats anytime I decide to go driving.
