JULY 2021 – Dubai, UAE: Roy Abou Trabi is a husband, father, and serial entrepreneur. Throughout the course of his career, he has stayed on top of trends and been on the forefront of the latest technological advancements.
He was born in Lebanon in 1986. As a child, he moved to the UAE where he was raised. He graduated high school in 2003, then moved to London to attend Middlesex University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Making in 2007, right at the onset of the global financial crisis. As jobs were hard to come by at the time, Roy was challenged to begin his entrepreneurial journey.
Over the course of the following year, Roy relocated back to his hometown of Lebanon. In 2008, despite the intense global recession, Roy launched a security electronics import business. The business offered GPA trackers, security systems, and more.
In 2011, he married Laila Abou Trabi and now they have three children.
Roy successfully ran his business through 2012, when he pivoted his career.
In 2012, the world underwent a drastic technological evolution. Social media companies were on the rise. Facebook filed for an initial public offering and unveiled advertising opportunities for brands. Roy saw the growth potential for these companies and know it would create a massive new industry – which was totally untapped at the time. He created a series of Facebook pages covering entertainment and sports news – including “Ma3luma Fi Sura”, “Thaqafa Bela Hodoud”, “Aalam al Kora”, and others – that combined accumulated over 30 million likes in a short period of time.
