hey guys you've got to watch this before you start a YouTube channel in 2018 because you've been rejected that's right YouTube have just announced their policy update for new youtubers and although previously you needed 10,000 lifetime views to monetize your videos YouTube has gone ahead in 2018 and updated this policy and now before you can monetize you need 4,000 hours of watch time within the past twelve months and a 1000 subscribers so a good luck with that now the reason why I say that is because I've started a few YouTube channels myself and they're really hard to get started even getting you first 100 subscribers on YouTube is really hard so imagine how much harder it is to get 1,000 now you also need them to watch four hours of watch time so if you do short videos that's going to be really hard too and if you make long videos well not everyone watches all through those videos anyway so I suspect it's gonna take at least six months to start earning money on YouTube and then you've got to compete with all the established channels and they go on to say that 2017 marks a tough year for creators and those creators making a living on YouTube with a six-figure sum are up over 40 percents year on a year which is amazing now a lot of those six-figure creators also make seven figures now this is what they don't tell you and they're actually supporting those creators to making sure more money goes in their pockets now you may have noticed that YouTube is changing from an indie video creator type platform to something a little bit more commercial let's have a look at the training tab and see what I mean so the top trending item is TMZ we've got the Australian Open TV Nintendo appears in there and we've got a lot of these and music videos but as we move further down the list we can see that the Late Show with Stephen Colbert appears quite frequently the Channel 4 News is also in the training tab and so is Jimmy Kimmel Live The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon The Late Night with Seth Meyers show so YouTube is changing now I know that these results aren't legit because here's a video here on channel 4 it has nine hundred thousand views in five days whereas a popular youtuber matpat with the game theorist put a funny video out about the Logan pool loophole he's got 3.8 million views over 6 days and when I started watching it it was trending at around about 26,000 views per hour and yet he still didn't make the training tab so something is definitely going wrong with YouTube and before you learn how to start a channel on YouTube maybe consider other platforms now I've previously spoken about steam it and that's a blogging platform but did you know that based on the same steam blockchain there is a video content creators platform called Adi tube now the difference between D tube and YouTube is there are no ads on D tube to support your channel the money you make is through the support of the community now you can go ahead and upvote somebody will just go ahead and click here I just log into my steam ed account and if I like the video I'll go ahead and just hit like now in my case my boats only worth a few cents some people are getting a lot more than that but the important thing to take away here is even new creators can earn a living from D Tube now here's one of the popular channels I like to follow Kevin Lee he's doing daily vlogs and as we can see he's around about number 21 so he's been doing this for nearly a month now and some of the figures are not so good but then he's getting paid things like 96 dollars 72 52 and those sorts of figures just wouldn't happen as a new youtuber and all of that money has come from votes within the community now it's a little bit too complicated to explain how that all works but it's blockchain based so you're actually earning cryptocurrency but it's really easy to go ahead and transfer that into a Bitcoin or real dollars so this is the other D tuber that I like to follow she's got a variety of payments here but more recently she's been earning some real coin so the best type of content on D Tube are the creators that do face the face videos or even vlogging they seem to get the most traction at the moment but the platform is growing and over time there'll be all sorts of opportunities for different types of content so now's your chance to get on board while it's still fairly new and there's still plenty of money to go around it's free to join and I'll put a link down below to get you started so before you start a new YouTube channel well consider another alternative like D tube and of course your other option is to grind it out on YouTube with the hope that they don't make another policy update before you get to that magical 1000 subscribers now everyone wants to get paid for their work so why give youtube free content to the share on their side when you could join a site like d tube and publish your videos and make money from day one so if you want to get started on d tube you need to sign up on the steamer platform first that'll take you through the signup process then that account will seamlessly work on D tube two so there's still hope for a new video creators in 2018 but I'm not really sure YouTube is the platform for you anymore it's probably better to grow your audience and make money along the way on a platform like d tube and if you once you've made money on D tube I'll be surprised if you want to leave and by then YouTube may have made another policy update to better protect their big content creators and it's a real shame because YouTube has been profitable for indie content creators for a long time but the dynamics are changing and there's also word on the street that they might move to a full subscription-based platform and as you can imagine they'll want to share those big content creators first so I'm not really sure what the future for new video creators are on YouTube but 2018 is a long year so I guess
